    The Maintenance Mechanic in the Loading Bridge section is responsible for the maintenance and repair of advanced mechanical equipment, such as telescopic passenger loading bridges, and hydraulic equipment for the Port. This position performs the more difficult tasks in bridge maintenance and renovation and is specialized work requiring knowledge of safety measures and efficient work methods, as well as the ability to perform work under hazardous conditions.
    The job holder will work a schedule of 7 am - 3 pm, Thursdays to Mondays, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off.


    General Description
    Performs skilled work in mechanical maintenance.
    Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
    Requires two (2) years of experience in industrial or commercial maintenance work, depending on the area of assignment or closely related experience.

    Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and labor methods commonly employed in repairing, renovating, or reconstructing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
    Knowledge of welding, electrical circuits, motor control circuits, programmable logic controllers, carpentry, complex hydraulic systems, mechanical systems, painting, and sheet metal fabrication.
    Knowledge of necessary precautions in rigging and in working at high elevations.
    Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the painting of structural steel surfaces.
    Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in all weather.
    Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; and read control panels and maintenance-related manuals.
    Ability to demonstrate skill and proficiency in using tools and equipment used in the maintenance and renovation of advanced mechanical equipment.


    Special Certifications and Licenses Required:

    Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
    Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification card (TWIC) within 60 days of employment and for the duration of employment.
    Ability to secure and maintain a valid Seaport Business Purpose Credential for the duration of employment.
    Maintain regular and predictable attendance, with occasional requirements for work after regular business hours.


    Preferences:

    5+ years experience in repair and maintenance of hydraulic equipment, industrial, plant, electrical power, lighting systems, welding, and programmable logic controls.
    Completing vocational training/apprenticeship in electrical, hydraulic, and electronic controls and systems.
    Certified as Industrial Hydraulic Technician (Fluid Power Society).

    Experience with fiber equipment.
    Ability to read, understand and convert metric measurements.
