Position SummaryThe Concessions Attendant supports the Concessions Department by providing first‑class quality services to all customers at BCPA and affiliated venues in order to maximize sales opportunities and create a positive, memorable experience for patrons while enhancing the image of the Broward Center and affiliated venues as a premiere performing arts center.
Essential Functions- Provide prompt, courteous, and attentive service to all customers during all aspects of the event to ensure a positive experience.
- Communicate with supervisory staff regarding details of each event in order to prepare appropriately.
- Treat all patrons and fellow staff with respect.
- Follow Concessions Department’s procedures and instructions from supervisory staff to provide the best patron concession experience.
- Comply with all appropriate food and beverage safe‑handling and sale of alcoholic beverage requirements.
- Follow policies and procedures for checking identification in all instances where the patron is of questionable age.
- Ensure assigned workstation is properly stocked with all products and supplies (condiments, beverages, cups, etc.).
- Maintain proper ice levels.
- Know all aspects of concession food service and set‑up to ensure safe and quality products.
- Cross‑train in all aspects of beverage and food service.
- Serve guests with properly measured alcoholic beverages, non‑alcoholic beverages, or other items.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with health department standards and a “clean as you go” policy.
- Work fast and efficiently to serve as many patrons accurately as possible.
- Know the correct cost of items, charge accordingly, and manage the transaction to ensure accuracy of money exchange.
- Attend all necessary internal and external meetings and trainings to provide and receive accurate and timely communication regarding the coordination of the Concession Department’s initiatives and objectives.
- Accurately follow the outlined dress code and appear neat and clean (uniform and personal hygiene).
- Assist in unloading, taking deliveries to assigned workstations, and restocking as needed.
- Be responsible for accurately clocking in and out for each shift.
- Perform all functions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established policies, procedures, and controls.
- Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Customer Focus – Understand the needs of the customer (internal & external) and act accordingly to create an exceptional experience.
- Teamwork – Work as a collaborative member of a group, contributing to the overall mission, strategies, and goals.
- Accountability – Take ownership for deliverables and actions, and contribute value to the organization.
- Maintain a physical presence at designated work locations, with regular attendance, punctuality, and a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) as events require.
- Communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and ethical behavior in all daily activities.
- Successfully complete Responsible Vendor and Serv Safe certifications.
- Be skilled in food service and sales to accurately prepare bar, drink, and snack orders and effectively serve customers.
- Follow direction from management and accept constructive feedback.
- Exhibit appropriate, professional, and corporate demeanor, consideration, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external patrons.
- Handle monetary transactions efficiently, quickly, and precisely.
- Be able to lift, carry a minimum of 20 pounds, and work standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting for several hours.
- Handle stress (fast pace, long shifts, working weekends and holidays year‑round).
- Work effectively and positively with others.
Education and Experience
- High School or equivalent, or higher education/training.
- Experience and training in sales, hospitality, and/or food service.
