We currently have an opportunity for a well-rounded and seasoned Bartender to join our Pier Sixty-Six Club opening team.
Responsibilities- Preparing all alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for guests
- Assessing bar customer needs and preferences and providing personalized recommendations
- Stocking and maintaining the bar area to resort and health department standards
- Providing an exceptional and memorable guest experience
- Participating in ongoing training for professional development
- Serving food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests seated at the bar
- Setting up the bar according to Pier Sixty-Six five-star standards
- Cutting fruit and preparing garnishes as set by resort standards
- Keeping the bar area organized and clean at all times
- Knowing all specialty cocktail ingredients and garnishes
- Participating in updated training for the bar and menu items
- Following pouring procedures and using a jigger for accurate measurement; no deviations from recipes
- Notifying Supervisors of product shortages or out-of-stock items
- Having working knowledge of draft beer systems and keg changes
- Answering questions on menu selections and drinks to servers and guests
- Communicating with the kitchen regarding menu questions, wait times, order recooking, and product availability
- Recording all transactions in the POS system accurately and timely
- Checking in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverage
- Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, china, glassware, etc.
- Completing closing duties, including restocking items to par levels and turning off lights
- Presenting accurate checks to guests and processing payments
- Maintaining a clean, professional appearance and adhering to uniform standards
- Welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to resort standards
- Anticipating and addressing guests’ service needs
- Speaking with a clear and professional language
- Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others and supporting the team to reach goals
- Moving and lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds as needed
- Thanking guests with genuine appreciation
- Performing other reasonable duties as requested by Supervisors
- Assisting Supervisors with inventory duties
- Notifying managers of suspicious or intoxicated guests
- Proper cash handling of banks
- Timely transfer of checks for guests moved to a different section
- Adhering to departmental policies and procedures
- Communicating effectively with peers, management, and front-of-the-house staff
- Practicing effective listening
- Performing related duties as required
- Maintaining cleanliness of the immediate work area and the general property
- Adhering to grooming, dress, and uniform standards as set forth by Resort policy
- Being courteous to all guests and coworkers
- Maintaining behavior consistent with sexual harassment/hostile work environment policies
- Maintaining knowledge of liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, proper glassware, and garnishes
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated individual
- Sommelier certification preferred
- Must be able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to implement and uphold service standards
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
- Ability to interact with all associates and guests of the resort
- Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods
- Passionate with knowledge of classic cocktails, wines, spirits, and beers
- High School Diploma or GED recommended
- Some college experience or degree recommended
- Must be TIPS certified or become certified within 30 days of hire
- Must have a current Food Handlers card
- Previous bartending experience in a professional setting is preferred
