Museum of Discovery and Science Animal Husbandry Specialist II – Full Time
SUMMARY:
Provide primary animal husbandry care for all animal exhibits within the MODS Living Collection.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A four year degree in animal husbandry, marine science or biology is required; equivalent experience may be substituted. A minimum of two years experience working with a variety of animal species in a zoo or aquarium setting and Basic Open Water SCUBA certification required. The qualified individual should have experience with daily care and maintenance of live animal exhibits, including but not limited to marine and fresh water aquariums, terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, terrestrial and aquatic reptiles, amphibians and small mammals.
Experience with otters, reptiles, small mammals, living coral systems and avian species are a plus. Must be able to work in a variety of climates. Must be able to work in high places and lift at least 50 lbs. This position includes weekends and holiday work. The qualified individual must be able to function as a team member and exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills.
Must have a valid drivers’ license.
