Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center (a subsidiary of Universal Health Services) is a 180‑bed private hospital specializing in treatment of drug addiction, mental health, and concurrent disorders for adults and adolescents. The center operates 24/7 and is located in Broward County, FL.
ECT Registered Nurse (RN)Shift: 5 AM‑5 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
ResponsibilitiesThe ECT nurse is responsible for all safety and patient activities before, during, and after electrocerebral therapy (ECT) treatment. Activities include monitoring patients, ensuring infection control, adhering to ECT and hospital policies, collaborating with psychiatrists and anesthesiologists, and caring for patients in a fast‑paced post‑anesthesia care unit (PACU) setting.
Qualifications- Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
- At least three (3) years of RN experience, preferably at least six (6) months in psychiatric nursing.
- Combination of education and years of experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- Experience working with mental health patients.
- Experience in ICU, PACU, emergency, medical‑surgical, or acute care hospital setting.
- Proficient with cardiac monitor, AED, ECT machine, intravenous access, Code Blue response, nebulizer, general anesthesia recovery, suction, glucometer, malignant hyperthermia protocols, agitation and sedation scales, time‑out protocol, EKG, specimen collection, ACLS, BLS, CPI, and verbal de‑escalation skills.
- Customer‑service oriented.
- Current RN license in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card (American Heart Association).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Competency in patient care practices, medication procedures, therapeutic boundaries, common psychiatric diagnoses, infection control, fire safety, age‑appropriate care, risk management, and behavior management.
- Competency in education and support, informed consents, pre‑treatment, during‑treatment, post‑treatment nursing care, and documentation.
- Well‑organized, efficient communicator, HIPAA knowledge, performance‑improvement awareness.
