PurposeCollaborates with the management team to integrate evidence based practice at the bedside. Mentors, teaches communication and customer service skills, assesses clinical skills, and supports professional development.
What You Will Do- Utilize clinical skills for comprehensive assessment of clients' health status.
- Conduct initial assessment and reassessment of patient/family WOC needs and develop a specific care plan with the bedside nurse.
- Provide consultation and/or assessment on patients with pressure and non‑stageable pressure injuries.
- In consultation with the physician, assist the primary nurse in developing an appropriate plan of care for comprehensive wound management.
- Makes recommendations to the physician for changes to wound care orders and supports evidence‑based research.
- Correlate assessment findings with appropriate interventions and follow‑up.
- Perform and document comprehensive wound care assessment at each treatment.
- Use comprehensive understanding of wound, ostomy and continence anatomy and physiology in line with national WOC nursing standards.
- Recommend and develop protocols and clinical pathways to ensure quality WOC care, including prevention of pressure injuries.
- Collaborate with medical staff, Nurse Managers, Professional Practice, nursing staff, dietitians, and case managers in multiple hospitals to facilitate basic WOC care and education for inpatients.
- Collaborate with nursing leaders to assure integration of services.
- Assist with care coordination and provide hands‑on care to patients as requested.
- Investigate cases with adverse events related to wounds.
- Review charts of patients with adverse events related to wounds and ostomy.
- Provide education to staff and consultation for patients and families undergoing ostomy surgery, and those with pre‑existing stomas managing care.
- Assess and plan initial nursing care for patients with post‑operative stomas and/or altered skin integrity and provide ongoing support.
- Participate in clinical outcome monitoring, follow‑up, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Conduct quarterly pressure injury prevalence surveys with unit skin champions; report metrics to quality, professional practice team and nursing leadership, and propose improvement methods.
- Submit data as requested by Quality Director for the board report.
- Apply quality management and resource utilization methodologies.
- Use Microsoft Office and adapt to new software; EPIC EMR experience is a plus.
- Complete concise, thorough clinical documentation of patient assessments and care.
- Previous educator, leadership/preceptor experience preferred.
- Participate in evaluation of products and new technology for effectiveness and cost to ensure cost‑effective products are used for patient care.
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of licensed professional nursing experience in acute care; minimum 2 years in wound care/ostomy management.
- Sound knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and standards of practice as determined by state and federal regulations.
- Knowledge of adult learners principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
- Ability to function and prioritize well within a dynamic work environment.

- Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Florida.
- Certification from recognized CWOCN or CWON preferred.
- WWC with OMS certification accepted.
