Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
Attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to vocational rehabilitation. Acceptable related fields may include:

  • business administration
  • human resources
  • special education
  • supported employment
  • customized employment
  • economics
  • psychology
  • another field that reasonably prepares individuals to work with consumers and employers

Years Of Experience
For each year of work experience required, 12 months of full-time work experience are credited per year. Bachelor’s degree plus not less than 2 years of paid or unpaid experience consisting of:

  • direct experience as an employer
  • direct experience as employment/placement counselor or job developer
  • direct experience as a small business owner or operator
  • direct experience in self-employment
  • experience in human resources
  • experience in recruitment
  • experience in supervising employees
  • experience in training
  • experience in other activities that provide experience in competitive integrated employment environments
  • direct work with individuals with disabilities in settings such as an independent living center
  • direct service for advocacy activities that provide experience working with individuals with disabilities

Advanced Degree
Attainment of a Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in fields such as:

  • business administration
  • human resources
  • special education
  • management
  • public administration
  • law
  • psychology
  • another field reasonably providing confidence in employment or related areas

Advanced Degree – Years Of Experience
For each year of work experience required in the qualifications, 12 months of full-time work experience are credited per year. Advanced degree plus not less than 1 year of paid or unpaid experience consisting of:

Job Description

The employee must be productive under tight time frames, balance multiple and competing priorities, and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance, sometimes under stressful conditions. Attendance is an essential function. This position provides independent professional vocational rehabilitation counseling to individuals with a diversity of disabilities to help them attain employment; coordinates complex services; and provides technical assistance on vocational rehabilitation issues to internal and external customers.
