Position: Maintenance Worker FT

Overview

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a qualified candidate for a Maintenance Worker in the Building Services unit within the Libraries Division. This position may be assigned to any location within the Libraries Division based on operational needs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial and related maintenance duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming library environment.
  • Move, lift, and install furniture, fixtures, and equipment throughout the County library system.
  • Set up for special events and assemble furniture, carts, shelving, and other library equipment using basic hand and power tools safely.
  • Interact with the public and county employees to provide directions, explain procedures, and resolve day-to-day operational issues.
  • Prepare log sheets to document work activities and track equipment usage.
  • Maintain landscape and construction equipment to ensure safe operation and minimize downtime.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) months of maintenance or closely related experience.
  • Valid Florida Class E Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship in building maintenance.
  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • Forklift, scissor lift, aerial lift, and maintenance of traffic certificates.
  • Two (2) plus years of experience with pressure washers, generator lifts, and power tools.
  • Two (2) plus years of experience painting commercial/governmental buildings.
  • Experience assembling furniture.
Physical Demands

Medium to heavy work involving walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing, and raising objects with 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
