Floor Care Technician

Overview

Floor Care Technician at Encompass is responsible for maintaining hard surface and carpeted floors in offices, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, stairwells, and public spaces. Tasks include stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting, along with light maintenance duties such as changing light bulbs as assigned by the supervisor.

• Operate specialized power equipment safely.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks on equipment.
• Conduct routine mopping, buffing, and burnishing of hard floors.
• Vacuum, shampoo, bonnet, and extract carpets and upholstery.
• Perform wall cleaning, dusting, and routine office/classroom cleaning.
• Move furniture to facilitate floor cleaning.
• Maintain and organize cleaning equipment and utility closets.
• Handle and comply with regulations for cleaning solvents and chemicals.
• Plan work schedules for major tasks and wet mop floors daily.
• Report necessary repairs to the supervisor.
• Strip and recoat floor areas as needed.

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and the public.

• Preferred previous floor care experience.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 40-75 pounds and perform tasks requiring continuous movement.

• Receives general supervision with minimal direct oversight, allowing for independent judgment.

• Good physical and mental health.
• Ability to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and work a flexible schedule.
