The Director of Risk & Insurance Management is responsible for managing Hotwire’s insurance programs, insurance claims, and risk mitigation activities. This role serves as a strategic partner in the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework, sharing responsibility for risk strategy in collaboration with leadership and teams across all Hotwire (HW) organizations.

The position’s primary functional focus is insurance and claims management, with an emphasis on assessing, measuring, and mitigating risk exposure to minimize financial, operational, and reputational impact to the business.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise Risk Strategy (Shared Responsibility)
    • Partner with leaders across all HW organizations to assess, measure, and monitor enterprise risk exposure.
    • Support the development and execution of Hotwire’s enterprise risk management strategy.
    • Facilitate and support cross-functional risk assessments to identify trends, emerging risks, and control gaps.
    • Provide data-driven risk insights to support informed business and operational decisions.
  • Insurance Program Management
    • Oversee all corporate insurance programs, including property, general liability, auto, workers’ compensation, and other lines as applicable.
    • Evaluate coverage needs and ensure appropriate limits, terms, and risk transfer strategies.
    • Partner with brokers and carriers on renewals, placements, and policy negotiations.
  • Claims Management (Primary Functional Responsibility)
    • Manage the end-to-end insurance claims process, including submission, documentation, tracking, and resolution.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, brokers, carriers, TPAs, and legal counsel as needed.
    • Monitor claim reserves, litigation exposure, and settlement strategies.
    • Analyze claims trends to identify root causes and opportunities to reduce claim frequency and severity.
    • Drive timely and effective claim resolution to minimize financial and operational impact to the organization.
  • Risk Mitigation & Loss Prevention
    • Support risk assessments related to operations, logistics, vendors, and fleet-related exposure.
    • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Safety, HR, and Legal to identify and mitigate insurable risks.
    • Support the implementation of loss prevention, safety, and corrective action initiatives informed by claims data.
    • Provide risk oversight related to fleet exposure as part of the broader enterprise risk program.
    • Review fleet accident trends, loss drivers, and insurance impact in partnership with operational teams.
    • Support fleet-related risk standards, reporting, and post-incident reviews without direct operational responsibility.
    • Review insurance requirements and certificates for vendors, partners, and contractors.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual insurance obligations.
    • Support risk transfer strategies through contractual language and insurance requirements.
    • Track and report insurance costs, claims activity, recoveries, and loss trends.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting for insurance programs.
    • Prepare executive-level reporting on claims performance, risk exposure, and impact mitigation.
    • Provide risk and insurance insights to Finance and senior leadership.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in insurance, claims management, or risk management.
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance programs and claims processes.
  • Experience working with insurance brokers, carriers, adjusters, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as ARM, CPCU, CRM, or similar.
  • Experience supporting logistics, supply chain, fleet, or operational risk.
