Job Summary:
As the local on-property sales contact for customers, the Sales Manager is responsible for proactively soliciting and handling all revenue-related opportunities in sales. Actively upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunities. Achieves personal and team revenue goals for the hotel. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery.
Note:
The hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week may vary.
- Business Results:
Builds department top-line revenue by adhering to sales strategy guidelines. Identifies revenue opportunities for the hotels based on event profiles. Meets and exceeds individual revenue goals. Effectively manages customer budgets to maximize revenue and identify opportunities to up-sell products and services throughout the sales process. Exceeds company minimum standards with the sales process and mentors others. Understands the overall market, competitors, economic trends, and demand. - Relationship Building:
Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers, including sales calls, entertainment, and FAM trips. Conducts customer site inspections. Proactively identifies, qualifies, and solicits new business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals. Focuses on accounts with larger potential sales revenue. Responds to inquiries within the market segment within 4 hours. Closes opportunities based on market conditions and hotel needs.
Forecasts group sleeping rooms and revenue prior to turnover and maintains partnership post-turnover. Creates sales contracts as required. Understands budgets and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted goals. - Guest Satisfaction:
Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction and builds long-term relationships to support future revenue growth. Coordinates and communicates event details with customers; follows up post-event. Maintains presence with customers during events and collaborates with the Convention Services department. Demonstrates leadership in guest hospitality and ensures services meet or exceed expectations. Collects feedback, responds to problems, and participates in corrective action plans.
Emphasizes guest satisfaction in departmental meetings and pursues continuous improvement. Utilizes hotel systems to capture and manage customer information. - Leadership and Relationship Management:
Applies broad business knowledge, leads the organization toward strategic goals, and maintains accountability. Demonstrates commitment to operating principles, addresses conflicts, supports teamwork, and adapts to change. Builds ethical, respectful relationships and fosters positive work climate. Manages execution by ensuring accountability, authority, and resources are available. - Talent and Organizational Learning:
Proactively identifies and develops talent; pursues self-development; shares learning and best practices. Encourages ongoing improvement and learning from others. Performs technical/procedural requirements of the job.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience:
3+ years of progressive sales experience. Hospitality industry experience preferred; luxury brand and experiential services experience preferred. - Skills:
Aggressive negotiating and creative selling to close on business with high conversion. Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with Delphi and Delphi Diagrams. Able to conduct market research and prospecting activities. Strong customer development, relationship management, and presentation skills. Knowledge of contract management, financials (P&L, budgets, forecasting), and decision making. - Other:
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication; problem-solving; organization; closing and persuasion skills; and ability to manage inventories and hotel operations knowledge. Proficient with standard software applications and hotel systems.
