Overview
The Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant assists the Holy Cross Health anesthesia team during surgical procedures and in managing patient care before and after anesthesia administration. Primary duties include monitoring patients, administering anesthesia, and providing emergency medical assistance as required.
Responsibilities- Administers general and regional anesthesia.
- Performs CPR when life-saving care is required.
- Gathers data from patients, medical charts and care team; updates patient records as necessary.
- Monitors vital signs before and during procedures.
- Manages patient care prior to and post anesthesia.
- Coordinates with care team to provide ventilator support and pain management after procedures.
- Uses critical thinking to diagnose symptoms and modify care accordingly.
- Operates and maintains equipment (EKG machines, endotracheal tubes, gas anesthesia apparatus, ICU ventilators).
- Partners with the anesthesia team to meet patient care standards, quality and safety metrics, and technology requirements.
- Maintains cross-functional relationships with physicians, nursing and clinical staff; approaches conflicts constructively.
- Identifies problems, offers solutions, and participates in resolutions.
- Models openness to new ideas, adaptability and active listening; promotes excellence in service to internal and external customers.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of Holy Cross Health.
- Assumes responsibility for safe performance of job duties and reports hazards to management; adheres to Joint Commission, DOH, and OSHA standards.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, respiratory therapy, medical technology, physics, chemistry, or biology.
- 1 - 3 years of anesthesiology assistant experience.
- Recent/Previous work experience in a multi-disciplinary health care setting.
- Ability to prioritize and problem-solve.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical ability to evaluate processes and to recommend improvements as needed.
- Reliability and flexibility with work schedule.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
- Current Anesthesiology Assistant Certification by the state of Florida?
- Current CPR; BLS; ACLS (preferred).
Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of computerized health care documentation systems and ability to utilize desktop software programs such as EPIC, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Holy Cross Health tools.
