Overview
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Technician. This position supports Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors in delivering services to eligible individuals with disabilities, coordinating customer activities or special projects in compliance with Federal and State requirements. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
Responsibilities- Assist the counselor with contract checklists.
- Work directly with customers by obtaining and verifying referral information.
- Receive, track, and submit monthly reports as assigned.
- Facilitate orientation and assist in processing consumer applications for Vocational Rehabilitation services.
- Schedule appointments and notify customers of counselor assignments.
- Conduct preliminary interviews as assigned.
- Assist in identifying resources of comparable benefits in the community.
- Assist customers with purchasing of services approved on the Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
- Provide comparison costs for purchases.
- Complete the authorization process as required.
- Work with the counselor to ensure that services listed on the IPE are scheduled and completed.
- Maintain ongoing contact with customers to ensure vocational progress.
- Assist Counselor and Supervisor with job placement and follow-up services.
- Assist Counselor and Supervisor in meeting Federal and State mandates for service delivery.
- Locate customers when services have been interrupted.
- Verify customers’ employment and training status.
- Develop and recruit new vendors.
- Communicate with community partners to expedite services for new and existing customers.
- Process files for case closure and document activities in customers’ case records.
- Answer phones and handle filing as required.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in counseling, job placement, job coaching or public vocational rehabilitation program can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
