- Complete and maintain necessary records.
- Conduct research in occupational therapy.
- Consult with rehabilitation team to select activity programs and coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
- Evaluate patients' progress and prepare reports that detail progress.
- Test and evaluate patients' physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients and measurements.
- Evaluates and re‑evaluates referred patients' ability to perform functional skills and plans a treatment program designed to meet identified goals.
- Tests and measures various functional abilities and documents the results.
- Sets functional, realistic, and measurable goals and ensures patient demonstrates consistent achievement of those goals.
- Designs a functional treatment plan that reflects prescribed therapy and incorporates applicable reimbursement issues.
- Re‑evaluates and discharges patients within appropriate time frames.
- Utilizes therapeutic techniques involving exercise, adaptive equipment, and splint fabrication. Activities of daily living are emphasized.
- Creates or assists in the development of functional aids and performs routine equipment adjustments as needed.
- Provides patient education in conjunction with therapeutic treatments.
- All treatments are administered with competency, demonstrating an understanding of theory and application.
- Show proper body mechanics and safe work practices.
- Maintain equipment properly and report suspected or identified malfunctions immediately.
- Assist others in completing competencies and provide ongoing cross‑training for specialized areas.
- Seek yearly assessment of competencies, both general and area specific.
- Ensure care is appropriate for all patients including neonates, pediatrics, adults, or geriatrics.
- Obtain and interpret information in terms of patients' needs, demonstrate knowledge of growth/development, and understand range of needed treatment.
- Document electronically in medical records, complete charge entries, and participate in PI monitors as directed.
- Perform documentation on IRU demonstrating proficiency with FIM scoring.
- Successfully pass FIM credentialing exam and maintain FIM credentialed status.
- Initiate communication with physicians and other professionals to ensure coordination of treatment efforts.
- Contact family members and outside agents as needed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with immediate supervisor, subordinates, and peers.
- Participate in discharge planning and recommend follow‑up care when indicated.
- Remain alert to patients' physical and psychological condition, providing emotional or emergency support as needed.
- Assist in the orientation and supervision of subordinates, students, and volunteers.
- Assist with educational and professional activities, including student supervision after one year of clinical experience.
- Assists in the orientation and promotion of departmental educational activities, health and recruitment fairs, and other initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
- Report the need for supplies and equipment promptly.
- Perform other job‑related duties within job scope as requested by Supervisor.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
- Current Florida State Licensure in the State of Florida.
- NBCOT preferred.
