Overview
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Airport Operations Agent, Senior/Ground Transportation Enforcement Officer in the Operations Division.
This job announcement will remain open until a sufficient number of applications are received. Must be able and available to work rotating shifts and assignments including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities- Coordinate daily activities for the Vehicle Code Enforcement services including compliance and enforcement, research, prepare reports as requested on legislation, rules, operational policies/procedures and other factors having an impact on operations.
- Enforce codes and ordinances.
- Conduct field and vehicle inspections, as well as undercover operations with law enforcement.
- Prepare cases for law enforcement or County Attorney or Licensing Board. Provide law enforcement with evidence and expert testimony in cases, and issue county notices of violations and citations.
- Maintain current and accurate records, update case files and computer records as needed to compile information. Assist in license application and processing and in education of operators, vendors, and the public regarding laws, ordinances and statutes.
- Assist with planning, developing, authorizing, implementing, and evaluating programs/projects, activities and services with airport-wide impact.
- Advise and assist the supervisor related to vehicle code enforcement activities.
- Conduct special research in conjunction with the vehicle code enforcement section, analyze operational data, and make recommendations based upon research.
- Identify and understand agency/business needs, contractual business requirements, and regulations governing local, state and other requirements.
- Provide assistance and training of division staff and contracted services providers.
- Provide assistance with planning, organizing and implementing a compliance and monitoring program, field documentation reviews, investigations or management studies.
- Be able and available to work rotating shifts and assignments including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Be able to work in various locations/environments including office, airport terminals, terminal curbside and the airfield.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in airport management, aeronautical science or a closely related field. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Requires three (3) years' experience in Airport Operations Ground Transportation, Code Enforcement or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License during employment and maintain authority to drive a county vehicle for the duration of appointment.
- Must obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) memorandum. Must obtain and maintain Customs and Border Protection Seal.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Aviation or closely related field.
- AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Designation.
- AAAE Airport Certified Member (CM) Designation.
- Certified Code Enforcement Professional (CEP).
- FACE Fundamentals Certification.
- Experience in Airport Vehicle Code Enforcement Operations.
Per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 1542, all airport employees must undergo a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and a Security Threat Assessment (STA) to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). All candidates must complete extensive work history verification and criminal background checks, including fingerprinting. Ability to maintain authorization to drive a County vehicle.
Ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge with appropriate clearance. The Aviation Department operates under a Drug-Free Workplace Policy in compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
