The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Airport Operations Agent, Senior/Ground Transportation Enforcement Officer in the Operations Division.

The Broward County Aviation Department, which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport, is seeking a highly motivated and professional Ground Transportation Enforcement Officers. This position will work under general supervision in the overall operation of vehicle code enforcement within the Aviation Operations Division. This role involves coordinating and performing the routine operation of the Vehicle Code Enforcement section of a county airport, while providing code enforcement services, inspections, licensing, and nuisance abatement to ensure compliance with county and county airport regulations.
The class works under supervision and reports major activities through periodic meetings and various communication methods. The Ground Transportation Code Enforcement Officer will maintain effective working relationships with airport tenants, the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials, and is expected to coordinate and manage operations with considerable independence and initiative. The officer must be able to communicate effectively and read, review, analyze, and draft documents using proper language, punctuation, grammar, and style.
Supervision is received through conferences with an administrative supervisor and by adherence to established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed through individual and team conferences, reports, and program achievements.
- Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in airport management, aeronautical science, or a closely related field. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
- Requires three (3) years' experience in Airport Operations Ground Transportation, Code Enforcement, or closely related experience.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License during employment and maintain authority to drive a county vehicle for the duration of appointment.
- Must obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Access (SIDA) memorandum; must obtain and maintain Customs and Border Protection Seal.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Aviation or closely related field.
- AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) Designation.
- AAAE Airport Certified Member (CM) Designation.
- Certified Code Enforcement Professional (CEP).
- FACE Fundamentals Certification.
- Experience in Airport Vehicle Code Enforcement Operations.
- Per the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Part 1542, all airport employees must undergo a Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and a Security Threat Assessment (STA) to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge, as required by the TSA. All candidates must complete an extensive work history verification and criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
- Ability to maintain authorization to drive a County vehicle.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SIDA Badge with custom clearance.
- The Aviation Department operates under a Drug-Free Workplace Policy in compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
- Coordinates daily activities for the Vehicle Code Enforcement services, including compliance and enforcement, research, and preparation of reports on legislation, rules, operational policies/procedures, and other factors impacting operations.
- Enforces codes and ordinances.
- Conducts field and vehicle inspections, and undercover operations with law enforcement.
- Prepares cases for law enforcement or County Attorney or Licensing Board; provides evidence and expert testimony in cases and issues notices of violations and citations.
- Maintains current and accurate records, updates case files and computer records; assists in license applications and processing and in education of operators, vendors, and the public regarding laws, ordinances, and statues.
