We are seeking a Mid to Senior Level Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager to lead HVAC and mechanical system design efforts for commercial and institutional projects in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This full-time role combines hands-on engineering design with project leadership responsibilities, supporting projects from initial concept through construction completion.
The ideal candidate brings strong MEP consulting experience, technical expertise in building mechanical systems, and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical HVAC system design for commercial and institutional facilities
- Prepare and review load calculations, equipment sizing, ductwork layouts, and plumbing/mechanical specifications
- Coordinate mechanical design with electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical deliverables
- Provide construction phase services including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field site visits
- Participate in client meetings and present mechanical system design concepts
- Ensure compliance with applicable mechanical codes, energy standards, and local regulations
- Maintain project documentation, quality control processes, and technical accuracy throughout all phases
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Mid to senior-level experience in MEP mechanical design and project management
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, energy calculations, and building mechanical codes
- Experience in consulting engineering or commercial building design environments
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure
- Strong client communication and presentation skills
