Senior Structural Engineer Your Work Environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Buildings Sector, of the Aviation, Transit and Commercial Buildings team, based in the following Southeast offices:

  • Miami
  • Fort Lauderdale

  • Nashville
  • Knoxville
  • Memphis

We are seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to join the Building Structures team as the Structural Team Lead. The Building Structures group provides structural engineering expertise related to the design and construction of building focused projects throughout the country. The successful candidate will work independently and with a diverse in‑house team and subconsultants nationwide, provide technical expertise, and mentor less experienced team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of structural engineers across the United States with a focus on building design.
  • Predict and plan current and future resources, including strategic membership growth, while developing and mentoring the team.
  • Design and manage large, complex, long‑term projects (technical or business) while coordinating with other disciplines and external partners within tight time and budget constraints.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.
  • Build business development capabilities, including preparing fees and proposals and maintaining an established network within the architectural industry.
  • Be responsible and accountable for client relations (internal and/or external).
  • Represent EXP in the industry at high levels nationally and internationally, e.g. think tanks, standard committees and international conferences.
What Your Experience Looks Like
  • Minimum 10 years of experience related to the design of building structures (variation considered).
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions or significant credit toward eligibility for membership.
  • Professional Engineering licensure is required; licensure as a Structural Engineer via structural specific examination (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred; a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structures is considered a minimum requirement.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary project leadership.
