Water/ Wastewater Area Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist - Pembroke Pines, FL

We are seeking a highly motivated Water/ Wastewater Area Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist to join our team in Pembroke Pines, FL, supporting additional Florida utility projects. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing safety, health, occupational health, fire protection, and property protection programs.

Responsibilities
  • Assess Health & Safety performance of projects, generate reports, and recommend improvements.
  • Review and assist in training operations personnel.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions.
  • Improve safety metrics such as TRIR, DART, RTW programs.
  • Identify safety gaps and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Conduct onsite audits for OSHA compliance (1910 & 1926) and other regulations.
  • Perform technical work across various safety disciplines to ensure compliance.
  • Work independently to develop safety solutions and implement programs.
  • Monitor workplace hazards and prevent risks.
  • Lead or provide expertise to less experienced staff.
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and safety audits.
  • Collaborate with site management on safety procedures and compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, compile reports, and manage safety permits and sampling.
  • Perform additional safety-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS degree plus 5 years of experience in a Safety role, or 7 years of experience without degree.
  • Experience in construction and general industry safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% annually.
  • Valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in environmental science, engineering, or related fields.
  • Certifications such as CSP, ASP, SMP, STS, OHST.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance for Water Resource Recovery facilities.
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements

Work may involve indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to elements, noise, machinery, chemicals, confined spaces, heights, and other hazards. Safety equipment use is mandatory. Must be able to sit, stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks required for safety inspections and reports.
