Building Enclosure Project Consultant
Location:
Fort Lauderdale, FL metropolitan statistical area. The position is part of the Facilities group. We are looking for a self‑motivated individual with a positive attitude, team‑player mentality, and strong work ethic.
- Conduct visual building enclosure system surveys, moisture surveys, pre‑design surveys and property condition assessments.
- Perform forensic evaluations and investigations on building enclosure and roof components suffering performance issues and suspected failures.
- Field testing of roofing, waterproofing, window and curtain wall systems on new construction and existing facilities, generally in accordance with ASTM, AAMA, TAS and ANSI standards.
- Review construction documents including architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals related to building enclosure.
- Perform quality assurance site inspections to verify conformance with construction documents, manufacturer and industry standards.
- Prepare technical reports documenting investigative results, testing and observations performed.
- Occasional in‑state and out‑of‑state overnight travel.
For this position the employee will be providing consulting, forensic/quality control field testing and inspection duties for commercial, retail, educational, multi‑family, low‑to‑high‑rise and manufacturing type structures for the public and private sectors. Successful candidates will have related consulting and field experience and a strong understanding of various construction types with an emphasis on building enclosure components, and knowledge of industry standards.
Knowledge of engineering and consulting principles and general business practices is also required.
- 5+ years consulting experience in Building Enclosure, Structures and/or Property Condition Assessments.
- Technical knowledge of building construction.
- Adept at reading and understanding plans & specifications.
- Higher education degree in an applicable/related field, preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- Remedial design experience relating to Building Enclosure/Roof is a plus.
- Experience with building enclosure systems such as wall claddings, windows, curtain wall systems, roofs and waterproofing.
- Certified in operation of boom lifts or willingness to become certified.
- Good communication skills.
- Good report writing skills.
