Requirements And Preferences
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an Assistant Medical Director for the Broward Addiction Recovery Center (BARC).

Assists with the coordination, oversight, and provision of medical procedures and health care services. Works under administrative supervision, develops and implements programs within organizational policies, and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine and successful completion of an approved residency appropriate to the area of assignment
- One (1) year as a medical practitioner, including residency or fellowship, with at least six (6) months experience with psychiatric, substance abuse, and/or co‑occurring clients
- Licensed Physician in the State of Florida
- Certification in Buprenorphine
- DEA license to prescribe Buprenorphine
- DEA license to prescribe schedule III, IV, or V narcotic medications
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Fellowship in Addiction Medicine or Public Health or closely related field
- Doctorate in Addiction Medicine, Public Health, or closely related field
- Board Certification in a related area
- Experience with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) including Sublocade, Suboxone, Vivitrol or other MAT medication
- Experience with infectious diseases in public health settings
- Bilingual proficiency
- Provides medical care and clinical services to residents needing substance treatment, including co‑occurring disorders
- Provides prompt and timely care in detoxification and residential treatment centers to reduce adverse outcomes
- Provides on‑call and after‑hours service to ensure safety and continuity of care for citizens
- Takes responsibility for total patient care needs – psychiatric, nutritional, and general medical needs
- Offers in‑service and educational services for staff and provides consultation to programs
- Analyzes data from residential and detox programs to develop policies and procedures, impacting rates and reviewing pharmacy, infection control, and nursing policies
- Provides medical consultation for the Broward County Human Services Department
- Supports cost management, utilization, quality assurance, medical protocols, staff supervision, and other administrative tasks
- Acts as backup to the Medical Director
- Performs related work as assigned
- Physical demands: light work involving walking or standing most of the time, with up to 20 lb. force, and use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive mechanical or electronic office equipment within moderate tolerances
