This position requires you to work on site at facilities located throughout Broward County.

This is a part-time, in-office position. You must be willing to physically come in to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will provide direct patient care services in the dental program for FDOH-Broward under the supervision of a dentist. This is a part-time position working 20-24 hours per week.

  • Under the supervision of the Dental Administrator and the dentist, remove calculus deposits, accretions and stains from exposed surfaces of teeth and from the gingival sulcus; perform gingival curettage and root planing; pre-assess and chart suspected findings in the oral cavity; place, expose, process and mount dental and radiograph films; apply sealants and topical fluoride; polish crowns and amalgam restorations; record procedures in the patient record;

    instruct patients in oral hygiene care; perform remediable tasks as delegated in the Dental Practice Act; ensure compliance with relevant Federal, State and professional standards.
  • Prepare trays with proper instruments; clean and sterilize instruments; maintain equipment and operators in a clean, orderly state; coordinate and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in internal committees and required CHD meetings; promote a teamwork environment with emphasis on patient care; complete Employee Activity Reports daily for weekly submission; manage emails daily.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal hours or days in the event of an emergency (including possible duties in special needs or Red Cross shelters or disaster responses).
  • Part-time, in-office position; able to come in to perform duties.
  • Licensed as a dental hygienist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes.
  • One (1) or more years of experience working with pediatric dental patients.
  • A valid driver’s license, access to an automobile, and willingness to drive to multiple sites as required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
