The Fleet and Asset Optimization Specialist is a pivotal role focused on leveraging data analytics, telematics systems, and strategic asset management to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve fleet performance. This position combines expertise in data analysis, process optimization, and fleet management to drive business objectives through informed decision‑making and cross‑functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will excel in analyzing complex datasets, managing telematics platforms, and fostering partnerships to ensure seamless asset utilization and compliance.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from telematics platforms (e.g., Trimble, Geotab, Samsara) and other sources to identify trends, optimize fleet performance, and enhance safety measures.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Excel, Tableau, or Power BI to provide actionable insights for cost savings and process improvements.
- Manage the full lifecycle of fleet and equipment assets, including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and disposal, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiencies, acting as a project manager for new initiatives and ensuring effective execution.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and management to align telematics solutions and asset strategies with business goals.
- Process intercompany reallocations, state title and registration changes, and vehicle disposals, ensuring accurate audits.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders through effective verbal and written communication.
- Provide recommendations for utilizing existing company assets to avoid unnecessary purchases and support inventory level alignment with operational needs.
- Ensure data confidentiality and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, fleet management, telematics, or asset management roles.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Proven experience with telematics platforms (e.g., Trimble, Geotab, Fleetio, Samsara).
- Strong understanding of DOT compliance, regulatory documentation, and vendor contract negotiation.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working on cross‑functional teams and managing time‑sensitive, complex projects.
- Background in fleet management, logistics, transportation, or equipment rental industries.
- Knowledge of mixed fleet management (owned, leased, and rented assets).
