We are currently seeking an experienced Real Estate Property Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our firm to oversee allfacets of commercial and multifamily property management accounting. From our offices in Fort Lauderdale, we invite candidates from all professional backgrounds and industries to connect with us and discover everything Berger Commercial Realty has to offer.
The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of commercial real estate property accounting experience and is familiar withlease accounting requirements under GAAP. This role requires a motivated professional who seeks continuous improvement and delivers a high level of service to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with Portfolio Manager/Asset Manager to maintain portfolio profitability
- Manage cash for assigned portfolio, including funding requests
- Assist with new property and portfolio acquisitions
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare, review, and distribute month-end financials and post adjustments as needed
- Assemble and review monthly financial packages, including Income Statement, Balance Sheet,Budget Variance, and Executive Summary
- Review AR/AP transactions to ensure accurate coding and recording; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare balance sheet tie-outs and maintain supporting schedules
- Prepare and post accrual entries with supporting documentation
- Post to registers and ledgers; prepare journal entries and account adjustments
- Prepare year-end packages for tax accounting and external audits
- Communicate directly with clients and ownership
- Strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting methods
- Full-cycle real estate accounting experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred;
Associate degree with equivalent experience considered - Experience with Yardi or similar property management accounting software
- Ability to perform variance analysis against budget and historical results
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task
- Deadline-driven while maintaining accuracy
- Collaborative team player with high ethical standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required
