Overview
The Bus Driver provides bus transport to passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule. The Bus Driver will be responsible for ensuring safe, timely transportation while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. This position requires strong driving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a disciplined and organized manner. The Bus Driver must also comply with local traffic regulations and will report delays and/or accidents.
EssentialFunctions
- Report to management any vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
- Comply with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to, DOT, Federal, State, local and RRST vehicle operating rules and regulations.
- Perform limited maintenance on vehicle.
- Communicate with dispatcher on duty/management regarding delays or any issues along a route.
- Ensure the safe loading, travel, and unloading of passengers.
- May be required to operate other vehicles.
- Performs other duties in accordance with requirements as directed.
- Perform operator level inspections on vehicles.
- Transport customers between pickup points, and drive diesel or gas-powered transit bus to transport passengers over established routes in a safe and responsible manner.
- Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, may involve physically getting into and out of vehicles/equipment.
- Frequently works in high temperatures.
- Occasionally works around loud noises.
- Occasionally works around fumes.
- Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions.
- Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
- Frequently requires driving.
- Must possess and present a valid state Real I.D. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger endorsement and current DOT Medical Card.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must conduct pre and post Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services.
- Must maintain logs of working hours, following applicable regulations and requirements.
- Must be able to read a map.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, understand English, and follow written/verbal directions.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate requirements, sometimes under short notice, to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Overtime may be required.
- Employee must complete timesheets daily, ensuring accurate data, both manually and via required system.
- Must submit to and pass random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Must perform other duties in accordance with requirements as directed.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be able to pass a National Criminal Background Check
The employee must be dependable and have strong communication skills while meeting project deadlines. Timesheets must be completed daily, ensuring that you accurately record your actual work hours. Timely and precise timesheet entries are essential for maintaining our records and ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, please remember to dress appropriately for your shift and be punctual.
