We are currently seeking a credentialed Financial Counselor to support the Army Transition Assistance Program (TAP).

Army TAP provides mandatory transition services to Soldiers preparing to separate or retire from active duty. Each year, more than 200,000 Service Members rely on TAP to meet federally mandated Career Readiness Standards before transitioning to civilian life. Financial readiness is one of the most critical components of that transition.

As a Financial Counselor, you will deliver mandatory financial planning instruction and provide individualized counseling to transitioning Soldiers and their families. This role combines classroom facilitation with one-on-one financial guidance in a structured, mission-focused environment. Your work directly impacts the financial stability of military families at a pivotal moment in their lives.

• Deliver the Financial Planning for Transition course in accordance with Army curriculum.
• Provide one‑on‑one financial counseling sessions.
• Guide Soldiers in developing realistic post‑transition budgets and financial plans.
• Review and provide feedback on Criterion‑Based Post‑Transition Financial Plans.
• Educate clients on budgeting, debt management, retirement planning, and separation‑related financial risks.
• Document counseling services in required systems.
• Safeguard Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• Support program compliance and quality assurance processes.

Required:

• National financial counseling certification (AFC®, CFP®, ChFC®, or DoD‑recognized equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, financial planning, business, counseling, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum two years of experience providing financial counseling or financial education.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 1 background investigation (CAC eligibility).

Preferred:

• Experience working with military personnel or military families.
• Classroom instruction or workshop facilitation experience.
• Experience in compliance‑driven or government environments.

• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Ability to translate complex financial topics into practical guidance.
• High ethical standards and discretion.
• Detail‑oriented documentation habits.
• Comfort managing multiple clients in a structured program environment.

This position is primarily on‑site at a military installation and includes classroom instruction and private counseling sessions. Limited travel may be required.
