Building Service Worker; Temporary - North Lawn Cemetery

The City of Fort Dodge is hiring temporary workers to support a short-term project at North Lawn Cemetery. This position involves hands‑on, physical work assisting with building demolition and light construction, including cleanup and removal of rubble, debris, and other waste materials. The temporary laborer may also operate small hand and power tools as needed. This is a short term project (estimated 4‑6 weeks) up to 40 hrs./week.

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Weekly hours are variable based on weather conditions and staffing availability
• Hours will not exceed 40 hours per week

• Demolition support
• Debris and material removal
• Basic construction assistance
• Use of basic hand and power tools
• Loading and unloading materials
• Maintaining a safe, clean worksite
• Work is primarily indoors

• Dependable and punctual
• Able to follow safety rules and directions
• No special training, experience, or education required (on-the-job guidance provided)

• Heavy work — frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs
• Occasional lifting over 50 lbs with assistance/equipment
• Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing/walking for long periods
• Exposure to dirt, dust, and debris
• Must wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots

• Post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug screen are required. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
