Job SummaryThe UGE Foreman leads the crew to complete daily tasks in the construction and maintenance of underground power lines,ussein from from plant/station to meter base, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for distributing electricity. The foreman reads blueprints, oversees production, coordinates with other departments, and ensures crew safety.
Core Responsibilities- Obtain all necessary materials for the job and ensure permits and licenses are in place.
- Oversee work related to each project, assuming full responsibility for quality and timeliness.
- Comply with proper safety standards, procedures, and work practices according to Mas Tec or higher customer standards.
- Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections, disseminating safety information.
- Coordinate and supervise daily tasks for crew members related to digging and placing product.
- Perform switching procedures to isolate, insulate, splice, and terminate underground power lines following safety Land protocols.
- Provide for connecting, disconnecting, installing and removing, moving and transferring of electrical devices on customer facilities (transformers, banks, regulators, switches, capacitor banks, etc.).
- Properly phase and mark/tag underground equipment.
- Drive, haul, or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews.
- Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
- Call in utilities located at each project site.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment and general construction.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
- 6 or more years of experience, including extensive experience supervising and training skilled labor.
This role operates in the field. It requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and twisting. Work is performed in varied weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) The position is physically active, requiring lifting up to 50 pounds, clear vision at 20 ft or 20 in, and precise hand‑eye coordination including color identification.
