General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store and for general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, maintain a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, ensure proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Maintains safety as the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in all duties.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Ensures security of the building including entrance/exit control, daily checks of EAS devices, Cash Office security, and secure areas.
- Removes clutter and ensures safe egress to emergency exits.
- Is responsible for customer safety including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treats all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes Associates using company programs.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance per Company Dress Code and ensures Associates adhere to it.
- Keeps all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard; responsible for daily trash removal.
- Inspects restrooms hourly to ensure cleanliness.
- Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards; assigns tasks and follows up per best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks when needed.
- Processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Receives all non-merchandise inbound deliveries (e.g., signs, supplies, etc.).
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms; assists with how merchandise is placed on the sales floor.
- Secures back-stock and processes in accordance with Company policy.
- Manages department merchandising including back stock and adheres to monthly presentation guidelines.
- Supports floor moves and signing, including promotional signage; performs re-wraps as needed.
- Understands and complies with Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintains a strong Customer service presence on the sales floor to deter loss.
- Demonstrates integrity and safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Maintains Public View Monitor (PVM) system as required.
- Conducts code inspections as directed and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working.
- Ensures Associates are executing Company standards at the Front End and maintains pace to expedite customer wait times.
- Trains and coaches on cash registers, shortage control policies, and Front End procedures.
