The Department of Natural Resources is actively seeking a qualified candidate for the Maintenance Technician I or Maintenance Technician II position to contribute to the strength of our team. This position is responsible for building, facility, grounds, and reservoir maintenance programs for assigned parks and open lands managed by Larimer County. The responsibilities include the maintenance and repair of all buildings, facilities, grounds, campgrounds, cabins, visitor services buildings, boat docks, buoys, and other related facilities.
It also includes tree, shrub, and lawn care, weed control, and other landscaping needs. The incumbent supervises seasonal workers and volunteers; work is reviewed during the process and upon completion. This is the journey level in the Maintenance Technician class series; positions are assigned a full range of maintenance duties and are expected to handle complex or technically advanced assignments with minimal supervision.
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional weekend work and potential assignment to Disaster Service Workers during emergencies.

Responsibilities- Perform maintenance and repairs on behalten vehicles, boats, boat docks, equipment, cabins, restrooms, water facilities, visitor services buildings, and other related facilities.
- Make routine purchases required for daily operations.
- Plan and schedule work assignments for crews, ensuring equipment and supplies are available, including safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in the fabrication and construction of park facilities, including boat docks, park shelters, picnic tables, park signs, fire grates, campsites, parking areas, small buildings, utility lines, and similar projects.
- Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment, including mowers, chainsaws, tractors, backhoes, boats, and trash compactors.
- Provide information and directions to the public to enhance their experience in the park.
- Perform other duties as necessary to support the effective operation of the park.
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in routine software and business applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to department and county rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with county employees, representatives of other agencies, and community members.
- Consistent, reliable, and predictable attendance.
- Familiarity with methods, materials, techniques, tools, and operational characteristics of mechanical equipment used in park maintenance, facility repair and construction, and related vehicle and equipment repair.
- Knowledge of general principles in electrical wiring, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, welding, vehicle mechanics, and horticultural practices.
