This senior manager serves as the head of the applications function within Platte River Power Authority’s technology services division and is accountable for the strategy, architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of the organization’s full enterprise application portfolio—spanning cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The portfolio includes enterprise resource planning (ERP), energy trading and risk management (ETRM), integration middleware, IT service management (ITSM), analytics and data science platforms, geographic information systems (GIS), and other business applications that support Platte River’s mission of providing reliable, environmentally responsible electricity.

As a key member of the technology services leadership team, this role drives digital transformation by partnering with division leadership and business stakeholders across all functional areas to align technology investments with organizational strategy. This individual provides vision and direction for application modernization, enterprise integration, data‑driven decision‑making, and emerging technology adoption, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, while ensuring the security, reliability, and regulatory compliance of all application services.

This role leads a diverse team of internal staff, consultants, and managed service providers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. The senior manager is responsible for building and sustaining high‑performing teams, managing vendor and partner relationships, and delivering measurable business value through technology.

This position works a typical Monday through Friday schedule in a general office environment and may be eligible for hybrid workdays. The successful candidate should reside within a commutable distance in Northern Colorado.

Performing this work requires occasional physical effort to lift and carry light objects and is primarily sedentary; minimal walking or standing is required on an as‑needed basis. This position may require occasional travel to vendor sites, conferences, industry events, and Platte River facilities. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support critical system deployments, upgrades, or incident response.

• Develop, maintain, and communicate the enterprise application strategy and architecture roadmap in alignment with Platte River’s strategic plan and evolving energy industry requirements including participation in organized wholesale electricity markets.
• Evaluate and recommend application investments, retirements, and modernization initiatives to optimize the portfolio and reduce technical debt.
• Establish and govern enterprise architecture standards, design patterns, and technology principles that guide application selection, development, and integration across the organization.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, cloud‑native architectures, low‑code/no‑code platforms), and utility‑sector best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.

• Provide executive oversight of Platte River’s enterprise application portfolio, including but not limited to:
  • Oracle Fusion Cloud (ERP, Financials, Supply Chain, and Work Asset Cloud Service)
  • Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) and middleware services
  • Dayforce (human capital management and payroll)
  • Service Now (ITSM, ITOM, and enterprise service management)
  • PCI Energy Solutions (energy trading, scheduling, settlements, and market operations)
  • Esri ArcGIS (geographic information systems and utility network)
  • Itron (advanced metering infrastructure and meter data management)
  • PLEXOS (energy market modeling and resource planning)
  • Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, and productivity applications
  • Databricks (data engineering, analytics, and machine learning)
