Mindbank Consulting Group is seeking experienced Data Management Experts to support environmental and conservation-focused systems through the design, governance, and integration of complex, enterprise-scale data platforms. This role blends data engineering, data governance, and analytics enablement, working closely with technical teams and domain experts to ensure data is accurate, discoverable, and usable across systems. This is a bid and, therefore, these are anticipated openings.
• Where? Fort Collins, Colorado, OR Falls Church, Virginia, FULLY ONSITE, 5 DAYS PER WEEK. This is not hybrid; this is not remote; exceptions cannot be made. Mindbank does not provide relocation assistance.
• Who? This is a government contract, and applicants must be either US Citizens or US Permanent Residents. No exceptions.
• How much? Salaries are based on each applicant’s professional experience and skills. Please feel comfortable speaking about your compensation requirements; I will be transparent with you during our conversation. Data Management Expert Responsibilities:
• Works in collaboration with other Data Managers to bridge biological expertise and technical requirements for managing species information.
• Responsible for organizing, integrating, governing, and improving accessibility and usability of species data across systems.
• Collaborate with biologists, ecologists, and technologists to understand data needs and objectives for species information workflows.
• Database development, governance, quality control, metadata management, modeling, ETL processes, data warehouse/data Lakehouse management, compliance with relevant policies and regulations, and documentation.
• Develop and implement data management strategies, protocols, and workflows for collection, storage, and integration from diverse sources.
• Design and maintain data architecture supporting taxonomy, distribution, habitat, behavior, genetic information, and related datasets.
• Support data integration, governance, and visualization efforts using technologies like AWS Quick Sight, Microsoft SSRS, ESRIs ArcGIS Knowledge, and Databricks.
• Develop and test data models, database structure and data workflows.
• Implement data pipelines using AWS, Databricks, and other ETL solutions.
• Support the development and maintenance of Data Lakehouse architectures, including graph databases.
• Develop APIs to make necessary data available to the public.
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata standards, and documentation to enable discovery, interoperability, and reuse.
• Work with technologists to select and implement data tools and platforms supporting storage, retrieval, and analysis.
• Provide training and tools for researchers on data best practices, entry standards, and appropriate analysis tooling. Data Management Expert
Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience in data management, preferably in a scientific or biological research environment.
• Proficiency in data management principles, data validation, data mapping and migration, data modeling, database design and development, and data integration techniques.
• Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools to represent insights and create reports.
• Experience working with dimensionally modeled data.
• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Postgre
SQL.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS) and modern ELT/ETL approaches.
• Experience with data governance frameworks, privacy, and controlled/uncontrolled data handling.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau/Power BI) and/or Python/R for data manipulation.
• Experience with AWS Quick Sight, Microsoft SSRS, ESRIs ArcGIS Knowledge, and Databricks.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
