HDR is seeking a Utility Coordination and Design Business Class Director. The function of the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class Director is to focus on the technical delivery of our products and services; in this way they will help position HDR as a preferred service provider in this area. This position serves as the technical leader for the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class and thus has responsibility for quality assurance, resource availability and development, as well as project delivery.
Responsibilities- Monthly Coordination Calls with Business Class leadership and/or Section managers, addressing key items including ongoing development of the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class. Identify upcoming projects and/or pursuits that need support from National Business Class leadership.
- Review upcoming workload and availability of business class staff.
- Analyze utilization reports to identify staffing needs (hiring/workshare) and work with Regional Leadership/Section Managers to meet utilization goals.
- Identify participants (and participate when appropriate) in Project Approach and Resource (PARR) reviews and evaluations.
- Perform project reviews or audits to validate quality practices; when requested, review technical and performance issues on projects and help develop remedial action.
- Serve as the focal point for the Transportation Business Group to deliver Utility Coordination and Design services in collaboration with other complementary Business Group/Market Sector or Business Classes throughout HDR.
An important aspect of this role will be to identify technical leadership within the business class that can assist with key projects, programs, and initiatives. The Business Class Director will participate in the hiring process, promote staff interaction and communication, encourage staff technical development and involvement in technical programs, manage workshare and project assignments, and provide direct project support for select projects or related assignments.
The ability to work in a highly collaborative environment is essential.
The Director will also participate in select marketing activities by supporting or developing project proposals, staffing assignments, identification of sub‑consultants, and other duties as necessary. Involvement in all phases of project development is expected. Limited travel is required to support select project pursuits and delivery nationally.
Location and TravelThe geographic location of this position is non‑specific; however, a location with significant HDR presence is preferred. The average travel requirement is estimated at 15%, with monthly variations between 15% and 25%.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the related field.
- Professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other business | // class directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
