The Role of a Senior CADD Technician

We’re seeking a Senior CADD Technician to lead the CADD work for our Western Division with both hands‑on technical expertise and people‑focused leadership.

As the Senior CADD Technician, you will be responsible for producing high‑quality civil engineering drawings, managing CADD workflows, mentoring junior staff, and driving continuous improvement in drafting standards and technologies. You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, surveyors, and project managers to deliver precise and timely design and construction documentation.

On Any Given Day, You’ll
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and construction documents using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Open Roads Designer for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and project meeting minutes to determine best approach to complex designs and drawings.
  • Keep a schedule, stay on budget, and ensure the smooth operation of tasks.
  • Show attention to detail and have the patience to handle multiple rounds of revisions, coordination between disciplines, with the potential for repetitive tasks.
  • Rework and modify drawings and designs based on comments and reviews from project managers, engineers, and clients.
  • Perform CADD management tasks such as technical support, installing and updating CADD software, orienting new staff on CADD standards and workflows, conduct CADD related training, modify and encourage adherence to CADD standards, and stay up to date on the latest versions and updates of CADD technology.
  • Ability to maintain a balance between strict adherence to CADD standards and flexibility to meet client requirements, changing technology, and innovation.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Experience creating Civil 3D styles.
  • Experience customizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D, including using LISP, Visual LISP, .Net, VBA, or similar.
  • Experience working in the Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • A strong understanding and vision of CADD standards and their value to projects.
  • Experience in CADD production of models and drawings for civil infrastructure and environmental type projects, including sheet sets, surface creation, grading, pipe networks, corridors, and point management.
  • Ability and experience working with designers and engineers in the CADD production process.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines across multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
  • The ability to communicate, train, and help others use the technology, tools, and CADD standards successfully on projects.
Desired Skills And Experiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Open Roads designer
  • Experience in a CADD manager role
  • Experience with GIS, Revit, Bluebeam, or other related software.
  • Live in the Fort Collins area or are willing to relocate
