Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The mission of the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Academic Program Planning (OAAAPP) is to support the University by leading activities related to University-wide accreditation and institutional effectiveness.
To accomplish its mission, OAAAPP provides consultation, training, and administrative and technical support related to assessment, including General Education; internal and external academic program change procedures; SACSCOC compliance; and strategic planning activities for faculty and staff.
Position Summary
The Assessment Director leads the University's administrative and academic assessment initiatives that support its mission and strategic goals. This position oversees the evaluation of student learning outcomes across undergraduate, graduate, and general education programs, as well as the assessment of strategic objectives within administrative units. The role ensures the distribution of materials to collect assessment data and analysis, manages assessment timelines, maintains compliance with institutional accreditation standards, and facilitates continuous improvement through collaboration with key committees and leadership offices.
The director develops and maintains accessible assessment resources, delivers training and presentations, and produces comprehensive annual reports to inform institutional planning. Through consistent monitoring of processes and collaboration with various people and committees, the director fosters a culture of effectiveness and accountability in both academic and administrative areas. The Director would report to the Vice Provost for Academic Programming and Accreditation.
Minimum Qualifications
* Earned Master's degree in program evaluation, assessment, measurement, educational research, psychology, or a related field, and 3-5 years of relevant experience in higher education assessment.

Preferred Qualifications
* Candidates with a doctoral degree in one of the listed academic disciplines or a related field are preferred.

Lead Institutional Assessment Efforts
Essential Tasks
* Promotes awareness of the University mission and strategic goals through effective assessment practices.
* Adheres to the Institutional Effectiveness Policy governing assessment of student learning outcomes and strategic objectives achievement.
* Manages the assessment process for academic and administrative units, ensuring reporting templates are produced and distributed annually, notifying campus of due dates, and ensuring deadlines are met.
* Oversees learning outcomes assessment of all educational programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels,
* Leads assessment of the general education program.
* Oversees strategic objective assessment of all administrative offices.
* Collaborates with the Student Learning Enhancement Committee and the Institutional Effectiveness committee to conduct reviews of assessment reports and provide feedback to faculty and staff.
* Maintains updated assessment forms and rubrics to ensure clarity, relevance, and usefulness to faculty, staff, and committees.
* Conducts basic statistical analysis.
* Produces annual reports on academic, administrative, and general education assessment.
