Position: 50% Assistant Principal, 50% Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) - MTSS Coordinator. Work calendar days: 208 AP, 188 TOSA. Duration of position:

Summary:
The assistant principal is responsible for assisting the Principal with instructional and organizational leadership, direction, supervision, operations and accountability for the attainment of school goals. Duties include evaluating, appraising, mentoring and monitoring licensed and classified staff; leading staff professional development; supervising, monitoring, and encouraging appropriate student behavior and individual student success; and planning and implementation of required assessments. At the direction of the site principal or district administrator, provide support in the coordination and implementation of the instructional program.
Collaborate with colleagues across the district to support continuous professional learning and lead coaching and training of teachers.
- Assist and support the implementation of building-level curriculum and instruction for the purpose of increasing student achievement.
- Supervise, assess and monitor student performance using objective and verifiable information, including standardized, criterion-referenced district and teacher developed assessments.
- Evaluate and supervise school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school s curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal to establish guidelines and expectations for appropriate student behavior with the goal of maintaining an academic environment conducive to student achievement including supervision during lunch, in the hallways and during co-curricular activities at night and after school.
- Facilitate communication (oral and written) between personnel, students and/or parents for evaluating situations, solving problems and resolving conflicts.
- Participate in social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities.
- Develop and implement staff development opportunities including organizing and facilitating grade level, team, and/or building based discussions, trainings, or meetings.
- Assist Principal with the hiring of new teachers and building staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support educators in all areas of classroom instruction and environment, including instructional strategies, student engagement strategies, classroom management, assessment, and curriculum.
- Develop, plan, prepare, and facilitate professional development opportunities.
- Design and provide support for educators in: a) Developing instruction aligned with district and state standards; b) Designing assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways; c) Using data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
- Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students assignments and assessments.
- Create a classroom environment which maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and wellbeing of students in the classroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate.
- Provide research, tools, and resources to support school MTSS and other student support efforts.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
- Communicate students progress, needs, and eligibility with parents and other staff as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes; participate in team and building-based meetings and discussions.
- Demonstrate a commitment to understanding, appreciating, and accommodating student diversity; include and engage families in the student s education; support all PSD policies, procedures, and expectations; provide personal and professional excellence.
- Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings and discussions; student and/or family conferences and other meetings; social, cultural, interscholastic, and extracurricular activities; and professional growth opportunities.
- Attend work and arrive in a timely manner; perform other duties as assigned.
- Master s degree with successful completion of principal licensure program required.
- Five years teaching/administrative leadership experience at the elementary level preferred. Criminal background check required for hire.
- Valid Colorado Principal s License.
- Valid Colorado driver s license.
- Bachelor s degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
