The Traffic Control Supervisor supports the Construction Manager and has full responsibility for managing and coordinating traffic control activities for a large, multi‑year telecommunications construction project across multiple jurisdictions in the Bay Area. This supervisory role includes directing teams, interacting with underground and aerial construction crews, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is credentialed and certified to manage all traffic management scenarios.
PayRate
Pay rate: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour.

- Place, remove, and repair temporary and permanent traffic control devices.
- Coordinate and supervise traffic flaggers in construction areas.
- Manage time and administrative functions for direct reports.
- Ensure compliance with all organizational and regulatory safety standards, including daily pre‑task safety planning.
- Create and interpret traffic control plans and implement them in the field.
- Inspect traffic control devices to ensure functionality, placement, and safety compliance.
- Control traffic direction using signs, paddles, hand gestures, radios, and verbal communication.
- Three (3) years relevant experience in a supervisory role.
- Current and valid state Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of MUTCD guidelines and ability to apply proper devices and techniques.
- ATSSA certification or comparable course certification.
- Solid understanding of construction job sites.
- Knowledge of safety rules for construction sites and ability to abide by them.
- 500 hours of experience in traffic control flagging.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex construction and traffic control plans.
- Ability to present and direct detailed instructions to team members in small groups.
- Basic mathematical skills (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, fractions, whole numbers, decimals).
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and maintain and submit daily logs and reports.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), standing, and twisting. It also involves working in inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The role requires clear vision at various distances, precise hand‑eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
