This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position:This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Campbell, KY.
Duties- Manage the training program and the training facility, associated supplies, and training resources for the Installation Fire Department.
- Maintain individual training evaluation and fire protection training records.
- Develop and conduct structural drills.
- Serve as Assistant Chief of Training and technical advisor for all training and safety related programs.
- Instruct the Fire Department personnel in all phases of medical, fire protection and prevention techniques and practices.
- Coordinate the credential process for all levels of department personnel.
- Develop lesson plans, courses and training materials based upon the training needs of personnel.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of pre-employment and periodic subsequent medical examination in accordance with DoDM 6055.06 to ensure continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Incumbent must refrain from the use of illegal drugs and as required submit to urinalysis testing under the Army civilian drug-testing program.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Tier 3 (Secret) security investigation.
- Employee must participate in and meet or exceed the standards of the DOD Firefighter Physical Fitness Program and must successfully pass an annual firefighter's medical physical examination.
- Employee will be required to perform temporary duty travel for the purpose of obtaining specialized training and other fire and emergency services duties and is subject to being recalled to duty in support of emergency operations.
- Employee performs, as required, mutual aid support to local fire departments.
- Incumbent must wear a uniform and safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Required to work 60 hours per week/120 hours per pay period which includes at least one 24-hour shift and may include nights, weekends and holidays.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
