About the Role

FSI is looking to hire a Site Safety and Health Officer L1. This position monitors workplace activities to ensure the safety of FSI employees, clients, and subcontractors on the jobsite. In addition, it assures compliance with company policies and governmental safety regulations, and provides support for implementation of the Site‑Specific Accident Prevention Plan. This position is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities
  • Support FSI’s mission of providing a safe and healthful workplace for employees.
  • Manage, implement, and enforce FSI’s safety and health programs and the Site‑Specific Accident Prevention Plan.
  • Conduct and document weekly toolbox safety meetings with entire staff.
  • Manage Health & Safety Training to ensure employees understand hazards associated with site conditions and activities and methods to mitigate those hazards.
  • Conduct safety inspections/audits and document safety deficiencies or unsafe acts on the appropriate form as determined by contract. Submit the findings to the CMM for correction. In emergency situations, SSHO has the authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
  • Ensure that employees are compliant and wearing all required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) for the specific work activity being performed.
  • Maintain awareness to current and updated federal standards and regulations. Inform employees of changes.
  • Validates and provides oversight to the development of Activity Hazard Analysis.
  • Maintain extensive and frequent interaction with company management, representatives of federal and state agencies, and facility management personnel.
  • Lead mishap investigations, assuring causation of mishaps are identified and corrective actions developed to reduce the risk of reoccurrence and verifying the effectiveness of actions taken.
  • Maintain the OSHA 300 Log; review with the CHSO when necessary to update.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CHSO or Project Manager.
Qualifications
  • OSHA 30‑hour training certificate or training card. (or course completion certificate if within ninety (90) calendar days of having completed the training and card has not yet been issued)
  • Resume or certificates demonstrating, twenty‑four (24) hours of documented formal classroom or online Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) related training within the past five years and must maintain competency by taking twenty‑four (24) hours every three‑year period for the duration of the task order. The initial OSHA 30‑hour training does not count towards the twenty‑four (24) hour competency training requirement. A detailed description is required for any training for which a certificate is not available.

  • Resume demonstrating five (5) years of cumulative safety experience, within the last ten (10) years in managing or implementing a SOH program on projects similar in industry type, size, and complexity as this task order
  • The L1 SSHO must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to develop and establish Health & Safety policies, plans, and procedures
  • Demonstrated skills in objective problem‑solving and decision‑making
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • First‑Aid and CPR qualifications preferred
Work Environment
  • Work in an office setting with mobility throughout the contracted area
  • Physical demands include intermittent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional bending, reaching, and lifting (under 60 lbs.)
  • Minimal exposure to chemicals such as cleaning solutions.
