Avionics/Electronics Aircraft Mechanic I is responsible for:
- Performing maintenance checks on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment.
- Maintaining common/special tools and equipment.
- Troubleshooting equipment and diagnosing repairs.
- Maintaining and testing avionics and electrical systems, including integration of complex software and hardware (power generation, distribution, integrated avionics, communication and navigation systems, mission equipment integration, sensors, and vehicle health monitoring systems).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid up-to-date A&P license.
- If no A&P license, must have:
- Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience.
- Two (2) years rotary‑wing aircraft experience.
- Two (2) years on the assigned MDS.
- All experience within the six (6) most recent years.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Note:
U.S. citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at the work location. - Tools are required; must provide own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.
Knowledge and
Skills:
- Good communication skills; adaptable, versatile, and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated system principles to complete all tasks.
- Knowledge of quality control, production and supply procedures.
- Proficient in using common hand tools, measuring devices (gauges, torque wrenches, scales) and test/diagnostic equipment for specific aircraft models.
- Ability to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement and the nature and extent of required repair.
- Skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds (most heavy lifting performed with mechanical devices).
- May work in an aircraft maintenance hangar or outdoors.
- May need to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
- May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft, fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock hazards, or moving mechanical parts.
