Overview
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource.
The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
By becoming a young persons mentor, be the person to positively impact the lives of our local youth with interest, compassion and consistency. With our project we create the village and the community our youth need to thrive with your help. This is an in-person group mentoring program. You will spend most of your time in a group of fellow mentors and mentees exploring, talking, and learning about their needs.
1 on 1 mentoring gives youths more opportunities for success regardless of their background. It’s especially important for youth who may not have consistent adults in their lives to connect with.
All mentors are required to complete a background check and training. And our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program. We ask that you commit to at least 1-hour per week for a full calendar year. Consistency is important to build trust between you and your mentee.
