NMS Engineer – Technical Recruiter @ Take2 Consulting, LLC | Talent Acquisition
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented NMS Engineer with hands‑on experience administering Solar Winds to support and maintain the Network Management System (NMS) environment. The selected candidate will work under the supervision of a Senior NMS Engineer and play a critical role in ensuring proactive monitoring, availability, performance, and security compliance of enterprise IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
- Server & Application Monitor (SAM)
- Network Traffic Analyzer (NTA)
- Monitor performance, availability, and health of:
- Network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Servers (Windows and Linux)
- Applications and databases
- Develop and maintain custom dashboards, alerts, and reports to support IT operations and mission requirements.
- Perform STIG compliance, security hardening, and configuration validation for the Solar Winds platform.
- Integrate Solar Winds with external tools and platforms (e.g., Service Now).
- Analyze performance data and trends to proactively identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Perform routine Solar Winds software updates, patching, and security configurations.
- Troubleshoot Solar Winds-related issues and provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 support.
- Document system configurations, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with network, systems, security, and Dev Ops teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive monitoring coverage.
- Participate in on-call support rotation as required.
- Work across infrastructure domains (networking, security, storage, virtualization, and servers) to deliver availability, capacity, and resilience improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience
- OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience administering Solar Winds or other Network Management Systems (NMS).
- Active Security+ certification (or DoD 8570/8140 equivalent).
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, including:
- Routers, switches, and firewalls
- Windows and Linux servers
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and reporting tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skill
