Overview: SRI is looking for compassionate health care providers who can provide in‑home assistance on an ongoing basis for a special‑needs family member who has a disability, developmental needs or a chronic illness. You will provide a valuable service for military families in the special‑needs family member’s home in the areas of health, safety, behavioral, nutritional and recreational needs.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily living skills such as bathing, feeding, toileting, lifting/positioning, and dressing.
- Provide supervision to ensure the safety of the special‑needs family member.
- Interact positively and communicate effectively with the special‑needs family member, family members and other staff.
- Prepare written reports and documentation of the family member’s needs and irregularities.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Respite Care Provider – Level 3
- A combination of post‑secondary education and/or training and experience in nursing and/or early childhood education, special education, elementary education, or relevant field of study.
- Related associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Designation as LPN or related certifications desirable.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with special‑needs children, youth or adults.
Respite Care Provider – Level 4
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study such as early childhood education, special education, and elementary education (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
- Designation as RN or related certifications desirable.
- A combination of technical knowledge/experience working with chronic conditions that require extensive family involvement in caregiving.
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience working with special‑needs children, youth or adults.
- Plus the minimum requirements listed above.
