Position Overview

This position will provide support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Strategic Threats Department (OB-ST) by supporting the strategic arms control implementer certification process, supporting training programs, and performing knowledge management tasks in accordance with DTRA guidelines.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support the strategic arms control implementer certification process.
  • Maintain Inspector/Escort Certification status document to monitor individual progress.
  • Maintain and issue training materials, explain the certification process, and provide direct instruction according to the 15-week department training plan.
  • As a subject matter expert in strategic nuclear arms control implementation, serve as an advisor to the certification board to ensure trainees meet department training standards as established by the Operations Division Chief and Training Officer.
  • Schedule and track completion of all outside formal training courses (non-language training only) including the department annual training plan.
  • Support Russian language training for local OB-ST interpreters through the Department Senior Linguist.
  • Provide the department Senior Linguist with language material to facilitate lesson preparation and presentation of Strategic Arms Control Linguist Certification Course periods of instruction as directed.
  • Maintain and update language training material for the department in coordination with the department Senior Linguist.
  • Coordinate the semi-annual Fundamentals of Strategic Arms Control Course.
  • Participate in course preparation with OB-OSX no later than 90 days prior to the course start date.
  • Review previous course material and provide updates to OB-STO to ensure standardization of content and format of training materials.
  • Ensure appropriate training materials are available prior to and during the course.
  • Serve as course facilitator and small group instructor as needed.
  • Support OB-STO Training implementation of long- and short-range training plans by reviewing all formally presented training material.
  • Through the Training Specialist and Training Officer, coordinate required weekly/monthly arms control inspector/escort training.
  • Review training materials used by division certified instructors in the execution of weekly and monthly training.
  • Conduct a monthly overview of training materials and update based on relevant AARs and other arms control engagements.
  • Notify personnel of training schedule and maintain attendance records.
  • Ensure Government training room, equipment, and material are available as required (government space is available).
  • Maintain existing database in file folder system and SharePoint for all Official Inspection Activity Reports and Mission Reports related to executed arms control inspections and escort missions.
  • Ensure reports have correct classification markings IAW the DTRA security classification guidelines.
  • Post all mission reports, applicable guidance and after-action reports to the department’s restricted drive and web-based/SharePoint electronic site books (as directed by the Readiness Division Chief).
  • Provide technical support to inspection teams with pre- and post-mission briefings and inspection activity report writing preparation, as applicable.
  • Provide administrative support and treaty information to deployed escort teams during the conduct of the mission to assist the team in resolving treaty-related and operational questions, when required.
