Senior Design Engineer; Plumbing and Heating

AES Solar is recruiting a Senior Design Engineer specialising in plumbing and heating to join its Projects and Services team.
This is a senior, predominantly office based role focused on the technical design, assessment, and improvement of plumbing, heating, and renewable energy systems.

You will lead the design of plumbing, heating, and heat pump systems for new installations, upgrades, and remedial works.
You will produce compliant system designs, schematics, and sizing calculations for low temperature heating systems.
You will investigate underperforming or faulty systems and design effective remedial solutions.
You will provide technical support and escalation for complex design and installation issues.
You will create accurate drawings, bills of materials, and clear installation work packs.
You will work closely with service delivery, project, and operations teams to ensure systems are safe, efficient, and install ready.
You will liaise with installers and field engineers to understand site constraints and resolve technical challenges.
You will maintain accurate system records and update specifications following post install changes.
You will share technical insight to help improve standards, training, and future system performance.

This is a full time, office based role.
The role can be based at the Forres office in Moray or the Dingwall office in Ross shire, to be discussed at interview.

You will have significant experience in plumbing and heat pump system design or engineering support.
You will have strong knowledge of low temperature heating systems, system sizing, and hydraulic principles.
You will be confident producing compliant designs and technical documentation.
You will be organised, methodical, and solution focused.
You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly.

An HND or degree in Engineering, Building Services, or Mechanical Engineering.
MCS accreditation or experience working to MIS 3005 standards.
Knowledge of UK Building Regulations.
Previous senior or lead engineering experience in plumbing, heating, or renewables.
Experience supporting or mentoring installers or engineers.

A permanent senior engineering role within a growing renewables business.
Salary between £40,000 and £45,000.
