Fleet Maintenance Technician

The City of Forney is accepting applications for a Fleet Maintenance Technician
. This position will be responding to fleet maintenance requests and taking appropriate action to resolve issues. Assists the fleet maintenance coordinator in managing the fleet maintenance program and transporting vehicles and equipment to and from vendors for repairs. Performs minor mechanical and electrical repairs to vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing belts and batteries, and changing tires.

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

• Performs light-duty repairs on City vehicles and equipment including small engines.
• Performs common electrical repairs.
• Performs light assembly and light bulb replacement.
• Performs removal and replacement of engine belts.
• Performs removal and replacement of batteries.
• Operates a large variety of City vehicles and equipment.
• Works both indoors and outdoors, including during adverse weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat. May be called in after-hours on rare occasions to assist with Fleet needs.
• Assists Fleet Coordinator with transportation of vehicles to vendors for repairs as well as performing minor repairs in-house.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No direct supervision exercised; may exercise functional supervision for assigned tasks.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) years of experience as an automotive technician or related field.
