Public Works Technician

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position‑specific duties.

• Maintains and repairs all aspects of street, drainage, and alley maintenance, street signs, street striping, other roadway markings, and construction; performs line locates; responds to trouble calls on roads and equipment; patrols streets to identify and provide maintenance for traffic signals, signs, guardrails, barricades, and markings that need adjustment or repair.
• Operates equipment, tools, and motor vehicles such as trucks, specialty vehicles, and other similar maintenance or construction equipment to conform with applicable regulatory standards and City standards.
• Safely operates equipment and tools used at work site; places traffic control flags, signs, and cones to direct traffic around work sites, and operates and maintains hand and power tools.
• On‑call for emergency situations
• Responds tactfully to questions and comments from the public and delegates to appropriate staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

No direct supervision exercised.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in general construction, road maintenance, stormwater collection systems, or related field preferred.

• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL within one (1) year of hire.
