Description:

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking School Social Workers for its Evening School program.

Under the direction of the Evening School Lead, the Evening School Social Worker enables students to achieve to their fullest potential academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally by assisting students to develop coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve interactive skills, and facilitate environmental changes that will enable successful functioning within the learning setting. School social workers also provide crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services supporting mental health issues for students, school personnel and community/family.

Summer School Social Workers must have the required endorsements. They may opt for one or both summer sessions and must commit to attend professional development prior to the beginning of the summer session. Additional dates may be outlined by the Summer School Administrator to ensure a smooth summer school program.

Summer School Dates:

Session 1

Monday,June 8 through Thursday, June 25, 2026

Session 2

Monday,June 29 through Thursday, July 16, 2026

Schedule:

Classes meet Monday through Thursday. No class on Fridays.

Evening School Hours 4:00 to 7:00 pm

Social Workers report from 3:45 to 7:15 pm

Primary Functions:

* Provide evidenced based, crisis, individual and group interventions to students in need.

* Consultation services to faculty, co-team members, parents and other appropriate parties regarding the socio-cultural and emotional factors impacting on the student's learning experiences.

* Complete diagnostic assessment for students needing initial evaluation or reevaluation.

* Individual education conferences to help determine eligibility for special education programs and counseling services on all cases where social work services are recommended.

* Conduct professional development/training and workshops for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.

* Provision of leadership in developing and coordinating school-community partnerships that includes school-based and school-linked services.

* Development and implementation of intervention and prevention programs that will assist in the reduction of at-risk students.

* Participation in MTSS initiatives in the school environment to support student success.

* Referral to, and consultation with, appropriate community agencies; development and coordinator of relevant community resources to address specific needs of the students and families.

* Linkage of services and intervention strategies to the classroom to enhance the child's overall educational development.

* Maintain valid and reliable records of all interactions with students.

Competencies:

* Perform promptly the responsibilities stipulated in Board of Education policies and administrative procedures.

* Attend each day of the program. Absences, for any reason, will result in a reduced stipend payment.

* Model and enforce classroom and school rules, policies, and procedures.

* Be punctual in arrival times to the building and to class.

* Cooperate with other educational personnel.

* Report promptly student behavior, attendance, and performance to family or guardians and when necessary, refer students to appropriate school personnel; stay in regular communications with parents.
