Mid-South Roof Systems is a leading commercial roofing contractor serving clients nationwide. We are seeking two (2) certified and experienced Crane Boom Operators to join our team. In this role, you will safely operate boom cranes to lift, move, and position roofing materials, equipment, and supplies at various job sites. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of crane operation experience, a strong understanding of load dynamics, and a commitment to strict safety standards.
Job SummaryThe Certified Crane Boom Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating fixed-cab boom cranes on commercial roofing projects. This role requires excellent coordination with roofing crews, riggers, and signalers to ensure materials are positioned accurately and operations are conducted in compliance with OSHA, NCCCO, and company safety guidelines.
Responsibilities- Operate crane/boom trucks to lift and position roofing materials, equipment, and tools on commercial roofing job sites.
- Maneuver loads safely, following load charts and accounting for site-specific conditions.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections to verify equipment safety and performance.
- Coordinate with riggers, signalers, and roofing crews for precise lifts and placement.
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, inspections, and maintenance.
- Follow OSHA, NCCCO, and company safety protocols at all times.
- Participate in daily job site safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Immediately report safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents to supervisors.
- Can drive a manual transmission.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating cranes/booms in construction or commercial roofing environments.
- Valid NCCCO Certification (or equivalent state/federal-approved crane operator certification).
- Fixed Cab (TSS) endorsement for telescopic boom cranes with a fixed operator cabin.
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of crane operations, rigging, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts, lift plans, and site layouts.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Experience with commercial flat or low-slope roofing projects.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
- Ability to travel anywhere in the United States without restriction.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Willing to work weekends and extended hours based on production needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and at elevated heights.
This position works in active construction zones, exposed to the elements, moving mechanical equipment, and high-noise environments. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
