Diesel Mechanic Technician

Overview

Position:
Senior Level Diesel Technician

Location:

Forest Park, GA (Ryder)

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Works unsupervised on most tasks
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Works in accordance with all safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
• Other support duties as required to support operations
• SBTIII trained within 180 days
• Complete two OEM On-Line diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification; post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance and oil changes
• Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
• Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
• All other certification as required by location, required
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
• Computer skills: PC, Windows
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle check for the last 3 years

• Hourly pay: $32.50 per hour
• Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
• Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
• Sign-on bonuses: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
