Overview
Position:
Senior Level Diesel Technician
Location:
Forest Park, GA (Ryder)
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Works unsupervised on most tasks
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint once assigned a task
- Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Works in accordance with all safety, DOT, MOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
- Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Accesses and uses internal and external maintenance documents
- Other support duties as required to support operations
- SBTIII trained within 180 days
- Complete two OEM On-Line diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification; post-secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance and oil changes
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- All other certification as required by location, required
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
- 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle check for the last 3 years
- Hourly pay: $32.50 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
- Sign-on bonuses: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
- Annual merit pay increases; on-the-job paid training
